Dolores Joan Spanske

Jan 13, 1927 – Apr 23, 2008

Dolores Joan Spanske, 81, passed away at All Saints Hospital on Wednesday, April 23, 2008. She was born in Milwaukee on January 13, 1927, daughter of the late Lawrence and Amanda (Nee: Kaltenschneé) Jacobson. Most of her life she lived in Racine. She was married on August 6, 1949 to Donald Spanske in St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Dolores was a proud homemaker who delighted in her role as a wife and mother. Kind and gentle, she always spoke well of others and was available to anyone who needed her. She was an animal lover – especially her birds and cats, and enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and the peacefulness of the outdoors and the cabin up north. Most of all she loved her family, and treasured her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She regularly attended St. Lucy Catholic Church.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Donald Spanske; and their children, Carolyn (Thomas) Stapleman of Neshkoro, Barbara Wadewitz, James (Vicki) Spanske, Cynthia (Wayne) Larrabee, John (Patricia) Spanske, Randall (Doreen) Spanske, all of Racine, and Daniel (Sandra) Spanske of Nekoosa; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Frank (Dorothy) Spanske, Herbert Spanske, Cecil Metz all of Racine, and Helen Jacobson of Milwaukee. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Randall Spanske, Jr.; son-in-law, Randy Wadewitz; as well as by her 6 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home (4600 County Line Road) at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, April 28, 2008. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will begin at the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. Memorials to the American Heart Association have been suggested.

I wanted to express my thanks to Mike for everything he did to make things go as smooth as possible. My mother looked beautiful right down to the little details. Thank-you
