Dolores Lehman

Jan 17, 1929 – Apr 24, 2009

Racine – Dolores “Dolly” Lehman, 80, passed away at All Saints Hospital on Friday, April 24, 2009. She was born in Racine on January 17, 1929, daughter of the late Wilmar and Martha (nee: Mandel) Schmidt. Dolly graduated from Kemper Hall, and Layton Art School. On May 8, 1948 she was married to Karlton F. Lehman, who has preceded her in death.

Dolly was an accomplished hairdresser and owner of the “Designs by Dolly” Salons of Racine and Kenosha. She was the former Chairman & Styles Director of the Wisconsin Hair Fashion Committee, and had served on the Advisory Board of the State of Wisconsin hairdressing (cosmetology) standards. She taught hairdressers all over the state, and employed many wonderful people during her thirty-plus years in the profession. Dolly retired in 1998 after selling her last salon, and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. She had fun working as a tour guide at the Liberace Museum. She returned to Racine in 2006 to be closer to her family.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Terry Lehman Rosing and Louis Rosing; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Christian and Sandra Lehman; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, and Haley Lehman; her brother, W.H. Schmidt, Jr.; as well as her extended family and dear friends.

Visitation will begin in the funeral home at 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2009, and ending with a Service of Remembrance at 7 p.m.

Many heartfelt thankyou’s to Ridgewood Care Center, and all of the Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare family for all that you have done for Dolly.

Testimonials

October 22, 2015

My husband, Tom, died on Jan. 24, 2015. From that life-changing day and still now, Gary and his sons have been at my side taking care of me, advising me, and guiding me with their sensitive, caring, and efficient expertise. I have heard from friends and family how perfect and wonderful the funeral service was (it was a blur for me), and I have the beautiful obit, memorial booklets, CD rom of slide show, celebration candle, portrait, and even personalized thank you cards to provide memories and comfort during difficult days ahead. My heart is full of thanks and appreciation to Gary Langendorf and his entire family.
