Donald Hintz

Racine – Donald “B.J.” Richard Hintz, 75, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center on Monday evening, February 18, 2013.  

Donald was born in Racine on July 17, 1937 to the late Elmer and Laura (nee: Maynard) Hintz. He faithfully served our Country with the United States Army – stationed mainly in Germany- from 1953-1955.  On January 21, 1966 he was united in marriage with Marlene Ann (nee: DeGarmo) Hintz.  

Don was employed as a truck driver for Machinery & Factory Industrial Supply, Inc. until his retirement in 2005. Some of his interests included car shows, collecting model cars, NASCAR, CB radios (handle: “BJ”), collecting and restoring antique bicycles, motorcycling and, above all, hanging out with his grandson, Truman, of whom he referred to as his “BFF”.  

Surviving are his wife of over 47 years, Marlene; son, Michael Hintz; daughter, Tracy Hintz; adored grandson, Truman Hintz; brother, Daniel (Barb) Hintz; brothers-in-law, John (Mina) DeGarmo, Gary DeGarmo and William DeGarmo; sister-in-law, Colleen (Al) LaFave; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley (Les) O’Haver; brother-in-law, Tim DeGarmo; and and his beloved Golden Retriever, “Ginger”.  

A Memorial Service celebrating Don’s life will be held in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 1:00 pm. Military honors will follow. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Saturday from 11 am – 1 pm.
