Dorothy Fink

Aug 21, 1924 – Jan 18, 2016

Sturtevant – Dorothy Jane Fink, 91, received the promise of eternal life on Monday, January 18, 2016.  She was born in Watertown, WI, on August 21, 1924, daughter of the late Francis and Eugenia (Née: Walsh) Scheberle.

Dorothy was united in marriage to the love of her life, Duane Francis Fink, on November 17, 1945, at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Sturtevant.  Duane preceded her in death on January 24, 1993.

Dorothy graduated from St. Catherine’s High School in 1942.  She was employed by First Bank Southeast for 26 and a half years until she retired in 1989.  Dorothy then worked 9 years for Racine County Mutual and another 9 years for Royal Nationwide Bus Company.

Dorothy loved fishing.  She used to take yearly trips to Cedar Rapids Lodge in Minnesota to fish with family and friends.  Dorothy also had a longtime love for the Milwaukee Brewers.  Brookdale Kenosha North staff nominated Dorothy for a Make-A-Wish award.  She attended a game with family and friends at Miller Park where she was able to meet Bob Uecker in person in the press box before the game.  Dorothy also was a loyal Packers fan.  She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events.  Her grandchildren affectionately called her “Grandma Dodo”.  Dorothy loved all of her family dearly and cherished the time she was able to spend with all of them.  She will be dearly missed.

Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Sandra (Roger) Hetrick, Gayle (Ray) Meissner, Gary (Susan) Fink, Connie Osborne; grandchildren, Karen, Jill, Jody, Kris, David, Ryan, Lisa, Laura, Emmy, Marly, Hally, Keith, Tracy; 15 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; brother, James (Babe) Scheberle; sister, Jean Lloyd; other dear relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy is preceded in death by her son-in-law, Jack Lake; sister, Rosemary Mickelson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 21, 2016, 11:00am, at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 3126 95th Street, Sturtevant, with Rev. Howard Haase officiating.  Visitation will be from 9:00am until the time of the Mass.  Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.

The family would like to say “Thank You” to all the staff at Brookdale Kenosha North as well as the staff at Hospice Alliance for all of the love and care given to Dorothy.  Your kindness will not be forgotten.

Testimonials

December 22, 2016

Thank you so much for your staff’s gentle, patient, and thorough management of my nephew’s memorial service yesterday. It was run to perfection, and we couldn’t be more pleased. From the beautiful slide show transitions to the quality audio system to the easels, pedestals and Kringle…all details were impeccable and appreciated.
