Dorothy Mae Hargrove was a genuinely kind and generous soul who always had a smile for everyone. She was a fun-loving, witty, and sharp Southern-raised lady born in Macon, Mississippi on March 22, 1947. Dorothy spent her final days in Racine, Wisconsin. Most of those days were spent under the devoted and loving care of her grandson, filled with fun, laughter, mini vacations, and last-minute milestones.
Although she was a devoted wife, friend, sister, daughter, mother, and grandmother, Dorothy always put God first. She was intelligent, bold, resilient, and a fierce defender and supporter of everyone she loved, and she received many blessings in return.
Dorothy enjoyed indulging in all of the spiritual obligations required by her faith as a longtime, devoted Jehovah’s Witness. Exercising, shopping, gardening, enjoying a good cup of coffee, and spending time with family, just to name a few, were some of her favorite pastimes. She also loved to dance and sing.
Dorothy enjoyed traveling as well. After the death of her first husband, she traveled to just about every major city and country you could think of. The one place she always wanted to visit but never got the opportunity to see was Tokyo.
Dorothy never took life for granted and encouraged everyone she loved to have the same mindset.
She is survived by her only child, Vera Draper; her only grandchild, Deon Draper; and two of her three siblings, Larry Gordon and Tommy Gordon. She was preceded in death by her brother, Sammuel Gordon, of whom she was the only sister, and her mother, Vera Gordon.
Prior to retiring from the workforce, Dorothy worked as one of InSinkErator’s most decorated and devoted assembly technicians. During her years there, she established a strong work ethic and countless additional friendships that followed her throughout her life and remained with her until the day she passed.
Dorothy was the closest thing to a real-life superhero. She was loyal, a true force of nature, and something that is truly lacking in the world we live in today: a true friend—someone who could truly be trusted, truly be relied upon, and who could truly and genuinely love you.
God truly has one of the best of the best back by His side.
