Dorothy Jean Kelsey, 81, passed away on September 13, 2024, in Racine, WI. Born on October 6, 1942, Dorothy lived a life marked by faith, service, and love.
From a young age, Dorothy dedicated her life to Christ and actively served in various capacities at several places of worship including Rose of Sharon COGIC, Beautiful Gates, New Beginnings of Faith, and Catapult. Her deep faith was evident in her actions and the way she generously extended her kindness and love to both strangers and loved ones.
Professionally, Dorothy was a committed telephone operator at AT&T, where she began her career in 1966 and retired in 1992. Her dedication to her role and the connections she made through her work were a significant part of her life.
Dorothy also pursued education in cosmetology in Brooklyn, New York, which reflected her lifelong love for beauty and self-expression.
She enjoyed shopping, dining out, keeping up with current events through the news, and reading the Bible. These simple pleasures brought great joy to Dorothy and were a cherished part of her daily life.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her father, R.C. Brown; mother, Sarah Francis Brown (Davis); son Daniel Kelsey; granddaughter, Alicia 'Marie G. Kelsey; and nephews, Kevin and Keith Brown. She leaves behind a loving family including her son, Alex D. Casey; daughters, Cheryl Casey-Grant(Jermaine Grant) and Dashia A. Kelsey; grandchildren, Lamont C. McCoy Jr.(Ganaya Benton), Jermaine Richmond( Ashley and children), Anthony T. Bradley(Jazmen Burnette and children), James Grant(Nicole Grant and children), Tariqa J. Bradley, Erick A. Casey(and children), Keanna M. Casey; great-granddaughter, Amya R. McCoy; sisters, Evon Calhoun and Lee Brown; and nephew, Jason Calhoun and spiritual friend Crystal Tillman
Dorothy's life was a testament to her unwavering faith and the profound impact she had on those around her. Her legacy of kindness and devotion will continue to live on through her family, friends, and all who had the privilege to know her.
Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory on Friday, September 27, 2024 for a visitation from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. A service celebrating her life and Homegoing will follow at 11:00 am.
