Dorothy L. Scheel

Oct 18, 1936 – Apr 26, 2011

Racine – Dorothy L. (nee: Haebig) Scheel, 74, affectionately known to many as “Dode”, passed away peacefully at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center on Tuesday, April 26, 2011.

Dorothy was born in Marshfield, WI on October 18, 1936 to the late Francis and Katherine (nee: Weber) Haebig. Moving to Kenosha in 1940, she graduated from St. Casimir Catholic School and Mary D. Bradford High School. Shortly after, Dorothy moved to Racine. On October 24, 1969 she was united in marriage with James Scheel. Together, they owned and operated Innovative Communications LLC for many years.

Dorothy was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. Among her interests, she was an avid mystery novel reader; enjoyed solving puzzles – especially Sudoku; and genealogy research. Above all, she loved and cherished being in the surroundings of her entire family.

Surviving are her loving husband, James; children, Kathleen (Bill) Rainbolt, Donna Cornelius, Barbara (Tim) Magnusson, Rick (Barb) Scheel, Randy Scheel, Robby Scheel, Dawn (Hugh) Twyman and Dory (Neal) Camp; many treasured grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother, James (Barbara) Haebig; sisters, Anne (Vernon) Ward, Loretta (V. Joseph) Fasulo, Rita (Bob) Morrissey, Frances (Gary) Gregory and Louise Haebig; special friends, Bill and Marie Feigel; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other friends.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Mutchler on March 1, 1965.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 29, 2011 at 11:00 am in St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring St., with Rev. William J. Dietzler officiating. A reception will follow. Private interment will take place in the S. Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be in the church on Friday from 10-11am. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family has been suggested.
