Racine – Dorothy Marie Meddaugh, 87, passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2014. She was born in Racine on November 20, 1927, daughter of the late Joseph and Stella (nee: Schram) Cooper. Dorothy was united in marriage to Earl E. Meddaugh, on June 2, 1951, at St. Edward Catholic Church. Earl preceded Dorothy in death on April 11, 2009. Dorothy was a lifetime member of St. Edward Catholic Church. She graduated from St. Edward School in 1942 and St. Catherine's High School in 1946. Dorothy had been a longtime member of the St. Edward Church Choir. She enjoyed attending live musical performances of all kinds. She also enjoyed reading and knitting until her health no longer allowed her to do so. Above all, Dorothy treasured her extended family and the time she spent with them. Dorothy is survived by her children, Joseph (Terry) Meddaugh, Mary (John Schmit) Meddaugh, Tom (Carol) Meddaugh, Theresa (Jeff) Bankenbush, Lawrence (Josy) Meddaugh; 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Bernie (Lois) Meddaugh; sister-in-law, Barbara (Butch) Lockwood; many other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her daughter, Jane Meddaugh; brothers and sisters-in-law, John (June) Cooper, Frank (Audrey) Cooper, Joseph Cooper; brother-in-law, Frank Baril; and sister-in-law, Gloria Thomas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 13, 2014, 11:00am, at St. Edward Catholic Church, 1401 Grove Avenue, with Rev. Allen Bratkowski officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30am until the time of the service. Private interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials to St. Edward Catholic Church. Dorothy's family thanks the staff of both Ridgewood Care Center and Hospice Alliance for the compassion and care provided to Dorothy and her family during this time. Special thanks are also extended to Sue Cooper, NP and Dr. James Gierahn for the care provided to Dorothy for many years.
