Aug 21, 1924 – Jan 20, 2012

Racine – Dorothy F. Skowronski, 87, passed away at home in the arms of her family on Friday, January 20, 2012. She was born on August 21, 1924, daughter of the late Charles and Mary (nee: Barina) Cermak. She was a lifelong resident of Racine and attended Washington Park High School. On August 16, 1952 she was united in marriage to Edward J. Skowronski in St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church.

Dorothy retired from Great Northern Packaging in 1982. She had previously worked at Hamilton Beach, and Vorlass Manufacturing. She enjoyed being outdoors in her backyard, sewing and handicrafts. Dorothy loved music and dancing, had a wonderful sense of humor, and enjoyed making new friends. She was a loving mother and a proud grandmother.  She was a member of St. Lucy Catholic Church.

She is survived by her son James (Kristine) Skowronski of Racine; daughter Karen (Dr. Ross) Christensen of San Diego, California; grandchildren Stacy, Katie, and Matthew Skowronski all of Racine, Tyler and Dana Christensen both of San Diego; sister Helen Pias; brother Charles (Carmen) Cermak both of Racine; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her dear husband, Ed; and her brother-in-law Arnold Pias.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 23, 2012 at St. Lucy Catholic Church with Rev. Mark R. Jones Officiating. Visitation will begin in the church at 10:00 a.m. Private entombment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Caledonia. Memorials to Heartland Hospice, or St. Lucy’s Church have been suggested.

Special thanks to Heartland Hospice for the kindness shown and compassionate care given to Dorothy and her family.

Testimonials

October 22, 2015

Mike,
Words cannot adequately convey our gratitude for all you did to honor our family member and friend, Mert Fleury. Like with her husband Ray, years ago, you and your staff went above and beyond to help us through this difficult time and to give Mert a wonderful celebration of her life. Every detail was considered, all of our requests were given unfailing attention, and the little extras took our breath away. Every sad feeling and every tear was matched two-fold with feelings of gratitude and comfort because of what you did. We will be forever grateful!
The Fleury Family

David Fleury
