Obituary

Eddie Lester was born on August 6, 1939, to the union of Laura (Miller) Lester and Willie Lester Sr. in Lambert, Mississippi.  He received his formal education in Lambert, Mississippi and joined the military in 1961 being stationed in Germany.

Eddie and family relocated to Racine, WI in 1964.  Eddie was united in holy matrimony with the Late Frances Lester on December 23, 1964, to that union 4 children were blessed to have them as parents.

Eddie was a dedicated and loving father and provider.  Along with his military service, he was employed to name a few, Hamilton Beach, Racine Steel, Rexnord, and Western Publishing Inc.  Eddie enjoyed working in the garden, going for walks around the neighborhood, and listening to the radio station, often watching and listening to baseball games, watching football games, gambling and going out for dinner with his great granddaughter, Sahni.  Eddie will truly be missed by his family.

Eddie Lester departed this life on Monday December 19, 2022.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Frances Lester; one son, Donald Lester; Father, Willie Lester Sr.; Mother, Laura (Miller) Lester; two Brothers:  Willie Lester Jr., James Andrew Lester; two Sisters:  Lillie Lester and Mary (Lester) Johnson.  He leaves to cherish two sons Wendell Vance, Roger Lester, and daughter Carolina (Reginald) McClain.  Grandchildren DeAndre (Kayla Gowens), Tamaria Reed, Eric Cage, Dominque (Darell) Livingston, and Breanne, and host of great grandchildren.  In addition, He leaves to cherish his memory, his brother John (Effie) Miller Sr., Sisters Betty (Johnnie) Vaughn, Diane (Robert Albrighton) Miller, and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Friends.

Special thank you to the following that cared for Eddie during the time of his illness, his granddaughter Breanne McClain, Terianna Bohanon, Ella Ervin, and Holistic Hospice.

A celebration of his life and homegoing will be held on Friday, December 30, 2022, 11:00am, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road.  Visitation will be from 10:00am until the time of the service.  Burial will take place on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, 1:00pm, at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Dover.

Service Details

A celebration of his life and homegoing will be held on Friday, December 30, 2022, 11:00am, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road.  Visitation will be from 10:00am until the time of the service.  Burial will take place on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, 1:00pm, at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Dover.
