Edith "Edie"
Mary D'Acquisto
Dec 3, 1929 — Mar 20, 2016
Racine – Edith Mary D'Acquisto, known to all as Edie, 86, received the promise of eternal life on Sunday, March 20, 2016. She was born in Racine on December 3, 1929, daughter of the late Francesco and Concetta (nee: Ruffalo-Greco) Candela.
Edie was united in marriage to the love of her life, Rosario Natatle "Chuck" D'Acquisto on February 4, 1956, at the old St. Lucy's Catholic Church in Racine. Chuck preceded her in death on December 1, 2014.
Edie worked tirelessly both in and out of her home. She worked for Campbell 66 as their office manager and in the accounts receivable office of Dominic Sales Company. Edie, along with Chuck, was very committed to serving others. Together they volunteered at St. Lucy's festivals, Roma Lodge, and other events. In addition, she and Chuck hosted bus trips to The Fireside, Dreary Lane, Branson, and many more for 25 years. Edie loved to cook for her family and entertain friends. There were many fun nights gathered together visiting, playing cards, and watching her favorite game shows. Edie treasured time spent with her family, particularly her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all.
Edie leaves to cherish her memory, daughters, Denise (Mark) Ewe, Dawn (Patrick) Tierney; grandchildren, Emily and Kaitlyn Ewe, John and Michael Tierney; other relatives and dear friends too numerous to mention.
In addition to her parents and husband, Edie is preceded in death by her sisters, Aquiline (Louis) Russo, Betty Candela, Evelyn (Ralph) Ziccarelli; brother, Frank Candela; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Grace D'Acquisto, Sal (Frances) D'Acquisto, Josephine (Alfred) Colla, Matthew D'Acquisto, Anthony (Marge) D'Acquisto, Dominic (Inga) D'Acquisto, Joseph D'Acquisto and Steven D'Acquisto.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Mach 28, 2016, 4:00pm until 7:00pm at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, 11:00am, at St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3035 Drexel Avenue, with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Visitation on Tuesday will be from 9:30am until the time of the service. Burial will follow the Mass on Tuesday at Holy Cross Cemetery in Caledonia. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials to the "Chuck D'Acquisto Memorial Fund" benefiting children with cancer and developmental disabilities or St. Lucy's Catholic Church.
