Edmund Stanley Weisbrod, born June 21, 1943 in Racine, Wisconsin, passed away reluctantly on May 17, 2017, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints. Ed was a man of many words (usually spoken at higher decibels) and many tears (usually brought on by some toast he was making). His wife, Dawn, was the love of his life and the center of his world, along with his grandkids, of whom he was fiercely proud: Erik, Allie, Ethan, Elliot, Phoebe, and Callum. Also in his huge heart were his kids: Christy, Pete (and Sheila), Jen, and Stef (and Josh). He was loved by his brothers, Larry (and Judy), Bernie (and Jackie), and his sister, Rosemary (and Tom Rice), and the rest of his family and friends. If Ed wasn't reading detective novels or watching Jeopardy, you might have found him fishing, boating, golfing, traveling, while all the time looking around and asking, "Where's Mom?". In his youth he was a bugle player and drum major with the Racine Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps, and was a two-time National Jamboree attendee, earning both Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow honors. Ed graduated from St. Catherine's High School in 1961, and received his B.A. at Carthage College. After graduating, Ed taught school for a few years. He then went on to a successful career in sales. Before retiring in 2005, Ed spent his last 15 years with EcoLab as the director of North American Sales, textile division. Aside from Wisconsin, Ed also lived in Chicago, Philadelphia, Florida, and St. Thomas USVI. He and Dawn most recently spent three cozy months together in a cottage in Dingle, Ireland, and they loved it. He lived fully, loved well, and will be missed more than he will ever know. There will be a small celebration of life service at Ives Groves Golf Course clubhouse pavilion on Monday, May 22nd from 4-7pm for family and friends.
