Obituary

Elaine R. Christensen, 88, passed away at her residence on Monday, November 11, 2013. She was born in Racine on March 25, 1925, the daughter of the late Rudolph and Marie (nee: Monsen) Aksland Sr.

On December 20, 1947, in Zion Lutheran Church, here in Racine, she was united in marriage to George T. Christensen, who preceded her in death on November 27, 2012. Mrs. Christensen was a longtime and active member of Zion Lutheran Church where she participated in the Solstrief Mission and the Ladies Bible Groups. She had been employed by the Mamco Corp. for over 20 years. After her retirement they Elaine and George became world travelers. Mrs. Christensen enjoyed sewing and knitting, but her greatest love came from spending quality time with her family. A proud moment in her life was taking her first plane ride to see her husband graduate from the F.B.I.  Academy in Quantico, VA.

Surviving are her daughters, Marlene (Boris) Chekanoff of Cape Coral, FL, Cindy Mortensen of Racine; 5 grandchildren, Kristen (Ryan) Dembroski of Milwaukee, Nicole Chekanoff, Kari (Jerry) Mikulanec, Jennifer (Dan) Sinnen, and Stephen Pichelman all of Racine, 2 great grandchildren, Amalia and Logan Mikulanec, brothers and sister, Rudolph (Beverly) Aksland Jr. of Highland Park, IL, Nancy Jaskulske, and Malvin (JoAnn) Aksland all of Racine, sisters-in-law, Joyce (Warren) Davis of Scottsdale, AZ, and Carol Wostel of Kingman AZ. Her nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive her. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister and brothers-in-law, Margaret and Robert Braley and Jerome Jaskulske.

Her funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, November 19th, at 12 O'clock Noon, with Rev. John Bischoff officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Private entombment will take place in West Lawn Memorial Park. The family has suggested memorials to Zion Lutheran Church.
