Obituary

In the quiet moments of July 1, 2025, the world lost a radiant soul, Elisha Carter Evans, who departed this life at the tender age of 25. Born on November 8, 1999, in Racine, Wisconsin, Elisha was a vibrant spirit who lit up the lives of those around him. Though his journey was brief, it was marked by laughter, tenderness, passion, and a profound impact on all who were fortunate to cross his path. To know Elisha was to love him.

Elisha placed his faith in Jesus Christ at a very young age, and he demonstrated that faith throughout his life. A gifted athlete standing 6′ 3″ tall, Elisha reveled in the game of basketball while he played for Butler Elite AAU, and Racine Lutheran High School where he graduated in 2018 and was crowned prom king. His passion for learning and mentorship led him to serve as a tutor in Milwaukee, Racine and Kenosha where he inspired his students with patience and creativity. Elisha was not just a guide in academics; he was a light, a gentle caring soul, always challenging others to do and be their best. Elisha also loved to dance and listen to old school soul music.

Elisha was especially proud to attend an HBCU at the University of Alabama A&M. During his college years at Alabama A&M, he joined the university's gospel choir, and traveled the country as a leading tenor. It was also at this time, Elisha discovered his love for opera singing, embracing the art with the same enthusiasm and dedication he showed in every aspect of his life. He poured his heart into learning opera, allowing it to express the depths of his spirit. Elisha was a disciplined mathematician with hopes of working for NASA. He later attended Marquette University studying Pure Math to expand his scope of different math theories.

Elisha's creativity extended beyond the classroom and the stage, as he found joy in the world of photography. He was an avid photographer who captured many special moments for many people. His favorite pastime was capturing the beauty of things around him, offering glimpses of the majesty he saw around him through his lens. Each shot was a testament to his appreciation for the beauty in the world around him.

Elisha is survived by his loving parents, Carter and Delicia Evans, whose unwavering love, faith and encouragement helped shape the extraordinary individual he became. The warmth of their love continues to surround him in spirit. He is further survived by his siblings, Darius Byers, Delisa Evans; aunts and uncles, Roderick (Dee Dee) Evans, Christina (Jacob) Drollinger, Cornelious Evans, Evelyn (Devon) Chambliss, Shannon Nash, Selathia Hargrove-Kirby, Tikita (Will) Ward; grandparents, Sam (Rita) Hargrove, Katie Evans, Deborah Kitt-Smith; great grandfather, Sam Hargrove Sr.; best friends, Isaiah McCoy, Alexia Drollinger. Other relatives, great aunts and uncles, cousins and dear friends too numerous to mention. Elisha is preceded in death by his grandfather, Carter Evans Jr.

Family and close friends will gather to celebrate Elisha's life in a private memorial service that will reflect the joy, laughter, and love that he brought to our lives. The private ceremony will be held Saturday, July 19th 2025, by invitation. Together, we will share stories, music, and memories, embracing the legacy of a deeply loved son, brother, friend, and mentor. Elisha Carter Evans will forever remain in our hearts and minds. May his memory continue in the echoes of laughter and in the beauty of the world he so enjoyed capturing.
