Obituary

Becky Verhaeghe-Hoffman, 52, died on October 18, 2006 with her family at her side after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Racine on April 24, 1954, the daughter of George and Grace (nee: Vermeire) Verhaeghe. On January 28, 1983, she married Irving J. Hoffman. Becky graduated from Horlick High School and UW Parkside. She belonged to Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Becky had a zest for life and work. But most of all, she lived for her family and friends. She touched the hearts of everyone who knew her. Those that knew her looked to her for guidance and support because her advice was true, sincere and words to live by. All that knew her will sadly miss her. We thank God for allowing us to have her as long as we did. In addition to her loving husband, Irving, her survivors include her children, Lauren, Michael, Jordan and Evan Hoffman; mother, Grace Verhaeghe all of Racine; brother and sisters, Tim (Pam) Verhaeghe of Bellingham, WA, Susan (Mark) Henderson and Marian Verhaeghe both of Racine; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dennis (Katherine) Hoffman of Cedarburg, WI, Jeannette Hoffman of Racine, Donald (Susan) Hoffman of Fischersville, VA, Vicki Hoffman of Appleton, Alan Hoffman of Delevan, WI, Monica (Terry) Moloney of Franksville, Dwight Hoffman of Racine and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. Her father, George Verhaeghe and brother, Michael Verhaeghe preceded her in death. Family and friends are invited to meet at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (2201 Northwestern Ave.) on Friday, October 27, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. for the celebration of Becky's life and memorial mass with Rev. Ronald O. Crewe officiating. There will be time to visit with the family from 5-7 p.m. Private inurnment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to a charity of one's choice. Becky's family wishes to thank Dr. Michael Mullane and his staff for the years of care she received. She was grateful and thought he was the best. Also, a special thank you to Sally Beland with Hospice Alliance for being there for them during Becky's final days.
