Elizabeth "Aunt
Betty" Zinnen
Nov 19, 1913 — Feb 16, 2016
Racine – Elizabeth "Betty" Mary Zinnen, age 102, passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, February 16, 2016.
Betty was born in Racine on November 19, 1913 to the late Nicholas and Lyda (nee: Geb) Zinnen. She was employed for many years at Webster Electric. Betty was a faithful member of St. Richard of Chichester Catholic Church, formerly known as Holy Name.
Aunt Betty will be fondly remembered for her scrumptious cookies that she baked & shared, the many items that she lovingly knitted for her family, and for the beautiful roses that she grew in her garden. Aunt Betty loved and cherished her many nieces & nephews and thought of all of them as her own children.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her brothers, Nicholas Zinnen, Ralph Zinnen, Ray (Helen) Zinnen, Norbert (Marie) Zinnen, Al (Mabel) Zinnen, Fr. Oliver Zinnen and John Zinnen (Betty's twin); and sisters, Lyda Peterson, Emma (Erv) Kovara and Isabelle (Ted) Williams. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 11:00 am in St. Richard of Chichester Catholic Church, 1503 Grand Avenue, with Rev. Ronald Gramza officiating. Visitation will be in the church on Saturday from 9:00 – 11:00 am. Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery, Kinzie Avenue. Memorials to St. Richard Parish have been suggested.
A special note of thanks to the wonderful staff of Safe Harbor Homes for the wonderful care and support given to Aunt Betty in her time of need. May God bless all of you!
