Obituary

Elsie M. Person, age 84 of Racine, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, in her home surrounded by the love of family.

She was born in Brownsville, TN, on June 7, 1939, the daughter of the late Jack and (nee: Mc Farland) Katherine Caldwell.  At the age of 13, her parents and other siblings moved to Mansfield, Ohio, where she continued her education after graduation. She then relocated to Racine, WI where she settled and started a family of her own.

American Motors employed Elsie for several years; She later was gainfully employed and retired from Alpha Homes as a Caregiver and was a comedian by night. After many years of service; she  was privileged to use those skills to assist in caring for two of her siblings in their later years, Hixie Fouse Hobbs and Lucy B. Caldwell Taylor.

Elsie will be remembered for her excellent home decoration skills, her caring spirit, tasty home-cooked food, the love she shared with family, friends, her church family, and her humor.

Left to cherish her memories are her children, Darlene Feagin of Toledo, Ohio, Billie J. Feagin of Cleveland, Ohio, Anthony Person of Racine, WI, and her youngest daughter Lorrie Bennett of Dallas, Texas her grandchildren, Rekita Feagin, Amber Young, Elijahwon Waldrop, Kirby Bennett III, and Jacey Velasquez; her two great grandchildren, Mercedes Feagin, and Lauryn Hester, Curtis Caldwell and spouse of Columbus, Ohio, William H. Caldwell and spouse of Ashland, Ohio and Sallie J. Caldwell Sylvester of Mansfield, Ohio; and a host of loved Nieces, Nephews and Friends

She was preceded in death by her parents Jack and Katherine Caldwell; her siblings, Eva B. Shannon, Lucy B. Taylor, JT. Caldwell, Kermit Caldwell, Dennis Caldwell, Loraine Smith, Hixie Hobbs, Thelma Allen, Dorothy Parker , Ethel Mc Ghee, Mamie D. Hoke, Elvan Eugene Caldwell, and Calvin Caldwell.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home. Entombment will take place in Mound Cemetery.  A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024, from  9 a.m. until the time of the service.
