Eugene R. Johnson

     Eugene R. Johnson, 77, passed away at home, on Wednesday, July 31, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Johnson was born in Racine, on October 10, 1935, the son of the late Axel A. and Anna (nee: Svoboda) Johnson.

    Mr. Johnson served his country with the U.S. Marine Corps from 1954-1956.

He had been employed by Lathrop Furniture for over 35 years. On March 26, 1983, in Mt. Pleasant Lutheran Church, he was united in marriage to the former Donna Ress. Mr. Johnson was a member of Mt. Pleasant Lutheran Church and the Teamsters Local #43. He was an avid bowler and loved to travel.

    Surviving are his wife, Donna, children, Eugenie Lynn (Frank) Hechimovich, of Racine, Mark Edwin (Kris) Johnson, of Augusta, WI, Michael Avery Johnson, and Diane (Douglas) Andersen, all of Racine, 6 grandchildren, Jacob (Amy) Johnson, Paula Johnson, Noah (Heather) Hechimovich, Mitchell Johnson, Ryan (Brittany) Kroupa, and Samantha Andersen. Mr. Johnson is also survived by his nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Linda Lou Johnson, in 1980, brothers, Howard (Silva) Johnson, and Donald (Verla) Johnson, and sister, Lucille (Harry) Thieme.

      His memorial service, with full military honors, will be held in the funeral home on Monday, August 5th, at 7:00 p.m., with Rev. David Echelbarger, officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Monday, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Private entombment will take place in West Lawn Memorial Park. The family has suggested memorials to Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Cancer Center.
