Florence Marini

May 22, 1911 – May 14, 2006

Racine- Florence (nee: Barto) Marini, 94, passed away at Villa Saint Anna on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 14, 2006. She was born in Oglesby, IL on May 22, 1911 to the late Andrew and Margaret (nee: Audo) Barto. A 1928 graduate of Hall High School in Spring Valley, IL; she was a Racine resident since 1941. On August 9, 1931 in St. Anthony Catholic Church of Spring Valley, IL, she was united in marriage with the love of her life, Albert Marini, Sr. He preceded her in death on December 7, 2001 just after celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary. Florence was Treasurer and Co-founder, along with her husband, of their family business, Marini Tool and Die Company, Inc. since 1952. A devote Catholic, Florence was a faithful member of St. Lucy Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Vittoria Collona of Roma Lodge and the Washington Park Golferettes. Among many of her interests, she was an avid golfer, outstanding bowler, phenomenal cook, accomplished at crocheting and knitting; and was fond of spending many winters with Albert in Arizona. Above all, she loved and cherished being in the surroundings of her entire family and was so very proud of each and every one of them. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Albert T. and Bernardine Marini of Kenosha; grandchildren, Anne Marie Kroes, Mary Jo Marini, Laura (Scotty) Spaulding, and Tom (fiancée, Nicole Toeppe) Marini, all of Racine; and Margaret (Mike) Kahn of Whitefish Bay; great-grandchildren, Katie, Kristin and John Kroes; Kathleen, Rob and Pete Kahn; sister, Marie Crowley; sister-in-law, Florence Barto; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Florence was preceded in death by her sweet-little great-granddaughter, Kimberly Rose Kroes; sister, Catherine (Joe) Swingel; brothers, Andrew and Albert Barto; and sister-in-law, Minnie (Arthur) Salvatore. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 17, 2006 in St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Avenue, at 7:00 pm with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. All are invited to also attend the entombment services for Florence on Thursday at 11:00 am at the chapel of Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum, Hwy 32. In memory of Florence, memorials to Villa Saint Anna have been suggested. A special note of thanks to the entire staff of Villa Saint Anna for the tender-loving care and compassionate support that was so warmly extended, and for providing a wonderful home for Florence over the past four years. God bless all of you!

Testimonials

October 22, 2015

We want to thank Mike for the kindness and special attention he gave us for our mother. Marcella Conley. He came in the middle of the night himself to pick her up and take her to the funeral home. For the things that had to be taken care of, he told us not to worry; that it would be taken care of by him. Thank you also Mike for singing at her funeral, especially her favorite song, Amazing Grace. Thank you and all of your staff at Draeger-Langendorf.
