MOUNT PLEASANT – Fred L. Rentz, 79, passed away at Kenosha Estates on Tuesday, March 18, 2014.

He was born in Racine on August 6, 1934, the son of the late Floyd and Augusta (nee: Schultz) Rentz.  On June 11, 1977 he married Marilyn (nee: Gawron) Barrows.

Fred served his country with the U.S. Army and later SC Johnson Wax as a chemical operator for over 42 years.

He was confirmed and attended St. Joseph Catholic Church until later joining St. Paul the Apostle with Marilyn.  Fred was a proud member of the Johnson Wax 20 Year Club and the Humble Park Schafskopf Club.  He also loved spending time fishing at his cabin in Mercer, WI. and working on fill-in books.  However, Fred was happiest when he was in the company of his family.  He will be dearly missed by those that knew and loved him.

In addition to his loving wife, Marilyn of Mount Pleasant, he is survived by his sons, Todd (Tammy) Barrows of Iron Mountain, MI, Jon (Kelly) Barrows of Racine; his grandchildren, Afton and Guy Barrows of Iron Mountain, MI, Mitchell Grimm and Madelyn Barrows of Racine; his sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Evelyn Weber of Rockford, IL, Richard (Jeanne) Gawron of Colorado Springs, CO, John Gaal of Wind Lake; as well as many dear nieces and nephews.   He was also preceded in death by his sisters  and brother, Jeannette (Harvey) Palmer, Margaret Gaal, Virginia Hornung, Charles Rentz and brothers-in-law, Henry (LaVerne) Gawron and Robert Weber.

Family and friends are invited to meet at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church (6400 Spring St.) on Friday, March 21, 2014 for a time to meet and visit with his family from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m.  The celebration of his life and funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Terrance J. Huebner officiating.   His interment will take place at Holy Family Cemetery on Hwy 31 following the Mass.   In lieu of flowers memorials have been suggested to the Nurses Foundation of Racine.
