RACINE – Gay Ellen King, 75, passed away at Froedtert South – St. Catherine's Campus on Thursday, February 17, 2022.
She was born in Racine on March 25, 1946, the daughter of the late Edward and Dorothea (nee Petersen) Simpson. Gay graduated from Washington Park High School in 1964. She later graduated from Kenosha Tech Nursing Program. By her retirement, she served 35 years as an LPN for Becker Shoop and Lincoln Lutheran Nursing Homes.
Gay enjoyed attending services at Emmanuel Lutheran Church (now Journey in Faith Lutheran Church), drawing, gambling, watching the Packers, appreciating the beauty of Lake Michigan, wearing purple and collecting anything with Betty Boop.
She is survived by her children, Michael (Carrie) King of Phoenix, Christopher (Lori) King, Wendy (David) Fleury both Racine; her grandchildren, (Michael and Carrie's children) Shane, Robb and Megan and (Wendy and David's children) Christian and Nash Fleury; her great grandchildren, Lucas and Ariel; her brother, Guy Simpson of Hartford, CT; her brother-in-law, Michael Skewes of Burlington; and her nieces and nephews, Kelly, Kevin, Phillip, Jessie and Ali; as well as many dear great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her parents, Gay was also preceded in death by her sister, Kris Skewes and sister-in-law, Karen Simpson.

Memorials have been suggested to Journey in Faith Lutheran Church.
