
RACINE – Gayle L. Baran, age 72, passed away at Hospitality Rehabilitation Center on Saturday, April 30, 2016.
Gayle was born in Kansas City, MO on September 23, 1943 and raised in Fremont, MI by her loving parents, the late Loren and Mary (nee: Carothers) Fitzpatrick.
She moved to Racine to take care of her ailing Aunt and met her soulmate, Mel. They were united in marriage on June 23, 1978 and shared 35 years together before his passing on November 7, 2012.
Gayle retired as a book keeper in 1992 when Benjamin Air Rifle company was sold to Crosman.
She was happiest when she was entertaining friends and family, cooking, playing cards or spending time with her grandkids, Ashley and Brady. They were her pride and joy. She kept a special place in her heart for dog “Bunny”, who was as loyal to her as Gayle was to all of her friends and family.
She will be greatly missed by their beloved daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Chris Hoehn; adored grandchildren, Ashley and Brady Hoehn; brother John (Darlene) Fitzpatrick, brothers-in-law, Benjamin (Mary) Baran and Stanley (Theresa) Baran and; sister-in-law, Audrey Baran; and many wonderful nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. In addition to Mel and her parents, Gayle was also proceeded in death by Mel’s parents, Stanley and Clara (nee: Jagla) Baran and her brother-in-law, Marty Baran.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 10 am in St. Sebastian’s Catholic Church, 3126 95th Street, Sturtevant, WI, with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Friday, May 6, 2016 from 5-7 pm and in the church on Saturday from 9 – 10 am. In memory of Gayle, memorials to St. Lucy’s Catholic Church have been suggested by the family.
