On Tuesday, June 16, 2015 we said goodbye to our loving husband, father, brother, and "Papa", George P. Camponeschi, 67.  George was born on June 25, 1947 in Hurley, WI to the late Paul and Mayme (nee: Tocci) Camponeschi. On August 7, 2003, he was united in marriage to Jo Carol Mason and together they enjoyed wonderful times as snowbirds in both Wisconsin and Texas. George was a friend to many and known for his energetic personality, sense of humor, and hard work.  He devoted his life to education, working in elementary schools for over 40 years mostly within the Racine Unified School District, as well as the Mesquite Independent School District in Texas. He was an avid hunter, introducing generations of family and friends to the beloved woods near his hometown of Hurley.  He was an involved member of the community in all of his homes, including Union Grove and Racine, as well as a member of the West Racine Kiwanis Club and the Retired Teachers Associations of Texas and Wisconsin, enjoying many volunteer hours giving back to his community in the name of Kiwanis.  George delighted in traveling, photography, and spending time in nature.  He also loved spending time with family and friends, especially his three grandchildren. George is survived by his wife, Jo Carol Mason; his children, Paul (Jenny) Camponeschi of Madison, Amy (John) Herbst of Chicago, and Lisa (Scott Hanson) Camponeschi of Wauwatosa; his grandchildren, Ava and Owen Camponeschi and Celia Herbst; and sister, Donna (Richard) Kowalczyk, of Slanesville, WV. Friends and family may gather for visitation on Monday, June 22 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. George will be laid to rest in his beloved Hurley. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the West Racine Kiwanis Scholarship Fund. We deeply appreciate everyone who kept George in their thoughts and your ongoing care and support.  George/Dad, we were so lucky to have you in our lives.  You taught us to work hard, enjoy the good times, and cherish friends and family.  You leave us with so many lovely memories that will never be forgotten.
