Feb 1, 1928 – Sep 5, 2007

Athelstane, WI (formerly of Racine)- George Pete, 79, passed away at his home in Athelstane, WI on Wednesday, September 5, 2007. George faithfully served our Country with the United States Army in the Korean War. On August 18, 1962, he was united in marriage with the love of his life, Sandra L. Lock. Prior to his retirement, George was a longtime employee of the JI Case Corp. Extremely proud of his Native-American heritage he was a member of the Ottawa Indian tribe. He enjoyed all aspects of the outdoors – working in his yard, messing with projects in his garage and deer hunting. George also liked to play cards, especially cribbage and poker with family and friends. Surviving are his loving wife of over 45 years, Sandra; their children, Todd (Brenda Weber) Pete, Jamie Pete and Jodi (Cliff Hartnell) Pete; grandchildren, Skylar, Nicholas and Sammy Sanchez; sisters and brothers, Lorraine (Bob) Ceplina, Ike (Barb) Pete, Joe (Marion) Pete, Raymond Pete, Kathy Verdi, Loretta (Vern) Thomas, Isabelle (Bob) Golden, June (Tom) Strobel, Charlene Pete, Carol (Wes) Russell and LaVerne (John) Lakso; and by many other dear relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his beloved son, Chad H. Pete, who tragically died on June 24, 2000; sister, Rose Greenland; and by brothers, Farrell, Arnold, Lloyd and Benny Pete. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007 at 11 am with Rev. Sara VanDeBerg officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Tuesday from 5-7 pm and on Wednesday from 10-11 am.
