George S. Stolp passed away on November 13, 2022.  He was born in Kenosha on November 24, 1930, the son of the late George and Harriet (nee Williams) Stolp.

George graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School in 1948.  He worked for two years before starting college.  He earned a BS in 1954 and an MS in 1955 from the University of Wisconsin – Stout.  He served in the US Army 3 ^rd Armored Division in both Germany and the US from 1955 to 1957.  George began teaching at McKinley Junior High School in 1957. He taught mostly science and industrial education classes, ending his career as the eighth-grade science person on the Light House team.  George also taught summer drivers education classes for many years, including starting an adult driver education program in 1957 in Milwaukee.  He had the thrill of working with many fantastic students. On October 17, 1959, George was united in marriage to LeeEllen (Bartel) Stolp, who preceded him in death on April 19, 2021. George was an active member of Kiwanis Club of West Racine for 20 years and was known as the keeper of the popcorn machine.  He was a member of the Johnson Park Retired Men's Golf league for more than a dozen years.  George enjoyed riding his bike and rode the Elroy-Sparta Bike Trail every year on Memorial Day weekend for 48 years, accompanied by family and friends.   George liked to teach and build, and he loved spending his time taking care of the things and people around him. He will always be remembered for his gentleness and infectious smile.

Surviving George are his four daughters and sons-in-law, Keri (David) Fisher, Joleen (Benjamin) August, Sandra (John) Wood, and Georgia (Rick) Holaus; grandchildren, Christopher (Julie) Fisher, Melissa (Daniel) Nelson, Erin (Zachary) Carson, Alexander August, Nicole (Jorge) Zamarripa, James Serum-Wood, Addison Wood, Harrison Wood, Bradyn Holaus, Teagan Holaus and Devin Holaus, and great-grandchildren, Naomi and Abigail Fisher,  Anaiah and Adley Nelson, August and Calvin Carson, Joseph Cuellar and Graciela Zamarripa.  He is also survived by many extended family members and wonderful close friends who all loved him dearly.

Service Details

A celebration of his life will be held in the funeral home on Friday, December 2 ^nd , at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. William Dietzler officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home that same day from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery Friday, December 2 ^nd at 3:00 p.m.
