With fond memories and grateful hearts, we announce the passing of Gerald Joseph “Jerry” Larsen, who died at age 88 on February 9th 2026 after a battle with Alzheimer’s.
Jerry was born on July 8, 1937, in Green Bay, to Gilbert and Katherine Larsen. He grew up with his sister, Joanne. Much of Jerry’s time was spent at the cottage in Point Comfort where his childhood adventures included catching snakes and frogs, dodging bobcats, and exploring alongside his good friend Bob Marchand. His curiosity and love of learning were evident early on.
A graduate of Green Bay West High School, Jerry went on to earn a degree in engineering from the University of Wisconsin. Proudly the first in his family to graduate from college, he paid his way by working as a dishwasher at a sorority house. He later served in the Army Reserves and began his career as a civil engineer in Milwaukee, eventually becoming a Civil Engineer in Racine where he raised his family.
It was during these years that the legend of the “Jercat” was born—family lore traces its origins to a Milwaukee tavern, Buddy Beeks, in 1960. Jerry and the Jercat were a memorable duo. By day, Jerry was disciplined and thoughtful, devoted to hard work, careful investing, and faithfully watching Wall Street Week. The Jercat, however, was a bit more colorful—partial to The Bold and the Beautiful, skiing trips with Jimmy Jensen, music, lively storytelling, and cocktail hour (preferably with a fiscally responsible pour of Fleischmann’s or Platinum vodka).
Jerry was a gifted storyteller who delighted in recounting his boyhood escapades and school-day mischief. The Jercat, for his part, never let a good story go untold—or unembellished—often delivering it with impeccable, comedic timing. A lifelong devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers, he rarely missed watching a game.
Above all, Jerry was a beloved father and grandfather. He was known for his generosity, sincere compliments, joyful spirit, and impressive dance moves. He loved connecting with people—friends and strangers alike—and was often the life of the party.
Jerry is survived by his children: Jenni Chiapete (Rich Chiapete), Katie Larsen-Klodd (Steve Klodd), and Matt Larsen (Ashlee Kuhry-Larsen); and by Karen Larsen, mother of his children and dear friend. He is further survived by his grandchildren: Anna Bendtsen (Bendt Bendtsen III), Abbie Chiapete (fiancé Aidan Kamschulte), Jack Chiapete, Alexa Klodd, Ella Klodd, Owen Klodd, Lydia Larsen, and Myles Larsen; and by his great-granddaughter, Etta Bendtsen, with another Bendtsen baby expected in June.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Joanne Davis; his brother-in-law, Bill Davis; and his son, Michael Joseph Larsen.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Woods of Caledonia, who cared for Jerry with kindness and compassion this past year, and to Allegiant Hospice for providing comfort and dignity in his final weeks. In lieu of flowers, memorials to The Woods of Caledonia are appreciated.

Gerry you were always fun to be around when it was time for family gatherings at the Klodd house in Madison when we were up from Texas. You’ll be missed by many and we will miss your laughter too.
