KENOSHA – Gertrude "Gertie" Kopp, (nee Jeuk) went home to Jesus on March 21 ^st at age 89, two days after the 15 ^th anniversary of her husband's passing.

Gertrude was born to Henry and Olga (nee Welke) Jeuk on December 4, 1932 in Alt Dombrowka, near Kowel, Poland. As a child, she experienced the horrors of World War 2, which led her to remain a life-long Christian. Of all the things she passed on to her family, faith in God was at the forefront. She also felt that we should appreciate the many blessings from God that he bestows on his children.

Gertrude met her husband, Alfred Kopp in 1953 thru a mutual friend and were married a year later on February 20, 1954, at Friedens Lutheran Church. They were married for 53 years and celebrated their 50 ^th milestone with all their friends and family. She is survived by her three sons, Edgar Kopp of Kenosha, WI; Richard (Tracy) Kopp of Kenosha, WI; and Michael (Jennifer) Kopp of Silver Lake, WI. In addition, she was the proud Oma (grandmother) of Heather (Matthew) Meadows, James (Nicole) Kopp, Joshua Kopp, Liam (Marissa) Kopp, Aaron Kopp, Gunnar Kopp, Grayson Kopp, and Ryker Kopp. She was also the Ur Oma (great-grandmother) to Madelyn Meadows, Chelsea Meadows, Emily Kopp, Kylie Meadows, and Ethan Kopp.  She is also survived by a sister, Frieda (Erwin) Neumann, Kenosha, WI; a brother-in-law Werner Gibson, Milwaukee, WI; and a brother-in-law, Leo (Cybille) Kopp, Babenhausen, Germany.

In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother, Oma, and Ur Oma, Gertrude also loved working in her garden, staying actively involved in Frieden's Ladies Aid Society, and singing in the church choir. She retained her German heritage thru her involvement in the German-American men's choir, the MGV Harmonia of Kenosha. She is probably best known for her cooking and baking skills. Anyone who knew her will still get a gleam in their eye recalling her brandy infused chocolate covered cherries or her cherry cheesecake. In the European tradition, she equated love with food. So, if you ever left her house, you probably were sent away with containers of food and desserts.

Gertrude joins her parents, Henry and Olga, her husband Alfred, daughter Linda (stillborn), daughter-in-law Penny, her sister, Herta, brother- and sister-in-law, Gustav and Ellie Filz, and sister-in-law Angelika Kary, in heaven.

Family and friends are invited to meet at Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church (5038 19 ^th Ave) on Monday, March 28, 2022, for a visitation from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.  A service celebrating her life and funeral will take place at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Michael Gorte officiating.  Her interment will follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to Kenosha Lutheran Academy (5038 19 ^th Ave) or Hospice Alliance (10220 Prairie Ridge Blvd, Pleasant Prairie, WI 53158).
