MOUNT PLEASANT – Gordon A. Johnston, 73, passed away at Ascension All Saints on Monday, February 12, 2018.

He was born in London, England on December 27, 1944, the son of the late Joseph and June (nee: Barden) Johnston. He immigrated to the United States with his parents and sister via Canada at a young age; and, was very proud to become a U.S. Citizen in the early 90's.  He attended local schools and graduated from Washington Park High School. Gordie married Cheryl Ellen Von Germeten in Las Vegas on December 8, 1978.

He worked for Young Radiator for 28 years before transferring to InSinkErator.  He retired on April 4, 2008.

Gordie was known to many as "G.J the D.J."; providing music, fun, and memories for many special events throughout the years.  He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose of Kenosha #286, the 5 ^th Street Yacht Club and a local Corvette club.   Gordie was a huge Packers, Badgers, and Bucks fan.  He had a deep love for animals and the environment; as well as golfing, bowling (in which he achieved a 300 game), electronics, "big kid toys", and going on many cruises with his wife and dear friends.  Above all else, Gordie loved spending time with family and friends. He touched so many lives with his love and laughter. He will be greatly missed by many.

In addition to his wife Cherrie, he is survived by his daughter Kelly (Jim) Gerber of Mount Pleasant; his son, Richard (Andrea) Johnston of Las Vegas; his grandchildren, Evan (Sarah Turner) Moldenauer, Kayla (Tyler) Neuhaus, Jenna (Calvin Green) Gerber, Cassidy Miller; his sister, Linda (Rev. Franklin) Helt; his step-brothers, Hugh (Carol) Merrill, Geoff (Barb) Merrill; many dear nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his former wife and friend, Marti Sanderson.

Gordie was also preceded in death by his step-mother, Laura Johnston.

Per Gordie's wishes, a private interment for his immediate family will take place at Graceland Cemetery.   Memorials have been suggested to a childhood cancer charity of one's choice or World Wildlife Fund ( 1250 24th Street, N.W. Washington, DC 20037).

A heartfelt thank you is extended to the entire staffs at Ascension All Saints, Grace Hospice, Oak Ridge Care Center and Select Specialty Hospital in Milwaukee for the loving and professional attention Gordie received while under their care.
