MOUNT PLEASANT – Gregg T. Hillyer, 65, passed away on March 20, 2024, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was born in Racine on September 16, 1958, the son of the late Martin and Marie (nee Hansche) Castaneda.  He graduated from Washington Park High School. On October 5, 1996, he married Debra Androski.  She preceded him in death on July 3, 2000.

Gregg was employed for many years at Yamaha as a field service manager and instructor and worked up until his illness in January.

Gregg was an avid fisherman and had a life-long love affair with motorcycles, snowmobiles, and jet skis.   He also enjoyed spending time at his cottage and being in the company of his family, especially his dog, Peanut.

He is survived by many dear Herrera, Castaneda and Hansche family members; as well as dear friends, including his co-workers at Yamaha.  In addition to his parents and wife, Gregg was preceded in death by his dear friend, Gregory Melby.

Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, for a visitation from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.  A service celebrating and remembering his life will follow at 6:00 p.m.  A private interment will take place at Mound Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, Gregg's family has suggested memorials to Hope Safe House.
