Gregory W. Maroda, 66, passed away unexpectedly in the Wheaton Franciscan Hospital-All Saints Emergency Room on Monday, February 3, 2014. He was born in Racine on February 1, 1948, the son of the late Frank and Jean (Nee: McGregor) Maroda. Greg had been employed by S.C. Johnson for over 30 years. He was a member of the S.C. Johnson and Son 20 Year Club. Greg loved to travel to Australia, and enjoyed working in his yard, tinkering on with cars, shooting pool, and fishing. He was the kind of the person who would help anyone in need. Surviving are the love of his life, Patti Nielsen; his children, Steve Maroda, and Jennifer (Quentin) Smith; stepson, Brett (Julie) Nielsen; grandchildren, Andrew, Aden, and Ethan Smith, Sophia Maroda, Lexi, Jenna, Lauren, and Collin Nielsen; sisters, his twin Karen (Nicole Horvath) Maroda, and Liz (and the late Michael) Rusch; brother-in-law, Mike (Nina) Nelson,  nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Edward Catholic Church, 15th and Grove Ave., on Tuesday, February 11th, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Allen Bratkowski officiating. Visitation will be in the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery Hwy 32.
