Harlow J. Klema, 77, passed away peacefully at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints on Friday, September 2, 2016, surrounded by his loving family after a long illness. He was born in Milwaukee on March 7, 1939 the son of the late Harlow and Alma (nee: Carlson) Klema.

On June 13, 1960, in Tucson, AZ he was united in marriage to the love of his life Joyce (Browning). They moved to San Diego, CA, where Harlow served his country in the U.S. Navy, then lived in Joyce's hometown of Odessa, Missouri for a short time; settling later in his hometown of Racine, WI where they remained for over 50 years raising their family.  During his career in purchasing, he was employed by the J.I. Case Co. for over 29 years and later worked at Hypro Manufacturing in Waterford, WI.

He was a long time member of Living Faith (formerly Atonement) Lutheran Church where he was active in the choir and music programs.  His greatest loves in life were his God, his wonderful family, traveling, camping with friends, music and golf.  He was one of the founding members of the Belle City Brassworks playing his horn. It was his passion.  He loved his time on the golf course with his friends,  cheering on the Chicago Cubs and the Green Bay Packers.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, of 56 years, Joyce; their 3 children, Jon (Mary) Klema, and Rebecca Klema, all of Racine, and Jennifer (Karrie Strahota) Newman, of Cudahy; as well as his grandchildren, Benjamin Klema, Brandon and Natalie Newman, great grandson Keegan Gasque; sister, Barbara (Kenneth) Orski, and brother-in-law, Rev. William Hanson. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Babe. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive him. In addition to his parents, Mr. Klema was preceded in death by his sister, Sally Hanson.

Funeral services will be held in Living Faith (formerly Atonement) Lutheran Church, 2915 Wright Ave., on Thursday, September 8 ^th at 7:00 p.m., with Rev. Dr. Warren Williams officiating. Visitation and a celebration of Harlow's life will be in the church on Thursday, from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial, with full military honors, will take place on Friday, September 9 ^th , at 10:00 a.m. in the Bohemian National Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers the family has suggested memorials to the Belle City Brassworks, or the music department of Living Faith Church.

The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Mullane and his staff, as well as, the entire staff of Wheaton Franciscan Hospice for the compassion and loving care they have shown Harlow, and his family throughout his illness.
