Menomonee Falls (formerly of Racine) – Harriet Louise Dumas was born on August 10, 1943 to the union of Mack Jarvis and Mary Louise Murphy (nee: Griffin) in Chicago, Illinois. She received her formal education in Chicago, IL and later in life returned to school and obtained her GED from Gateway Technical College. She moved to Racine in 1968 and worked for Jacobsen Manufacturing for over 20 years. Before retiring, she worked in home health care taking care of disabled adults.
Harriet was united in marriage to Wesley H. Dumas in 1973. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall- Jehovah's Witness in Racine and was an active a member until her health declined. She enjoyed witnessing door to door, bible study, and attending convention. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, sewing, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.
She leaves to cherish her memory her 5 children, Lenora Murphy of Louisville, KY., Tyrone Murphy of Chicago, IL., Twana Murphy of Milwaukee, WI., LaDonna Dumas of Racine, WI., and Angelique (William) Lewis of Menomonee Falls, WI., her grandchildren, Jermell, Antoine, Shontae, Russell, TaVonna, LaKia, Asirah, Anaijah, William IV, and Austin; 10 great grandchildren; her brother-in-law, William Griffin of Racine, WI.; sister-in-law, Rossie Brown of Racine, WI.; aunts, Laverne Jones and Betty Jo Mosley; special friends, Mamie McLain, Dorothy Hargrove, Deloise McLemore, and Diana Bendix; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Barbara A. Griffin, Sandra Murphy, and Patricia Murphy; and brother, Willie Brown.
Family and friends are invited to meet at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses (1600 Summerset Drive) on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. for a memorial service honoring and remembering her life. There will be a time to meet the family from noon until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. Her interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery.
