Mount Pleasant (formerly of Ostergaard Ave. in Racine) – Harry J. Burlingame, 88, passed away at Ascension All Saints on November 16, 2021.

A lifelong resident of Racine, Harry was born on April 21, 1933, the son of the late Harry W. and Ruth J. (nee Koran) Burlingame.

Harry honorably served his nation with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War where he received extensive electronics training. He was a member of the Underwater Demolition Team (Frogmen) while in Korea. While off duty, Harry proudly helped deliver babies in the MASH units where he was deployed.

After the war, Harry married Janet H. Ludvigsen in Gethsemane Lutheran Church on April 18, 1959. They remained faithful members until the church's closing.

Harry retired as purchasing agent and repair department manager with the Robert Bosch Corporation (formerly Racine Hydraulics) where he was employed for most of his professional career.

He loved reading, woodworking, gardening, fishing, working on cars and hunting trips with his brother Paul and brother-in-law Dan during rifle and bow and arrow season at Dan's cottage and also in Black River Falls. He was a true Jack of all trades and excelled in anything electrical. He also enjoyed serving as church council president and later as president of Plum Ridge Park Condominiums. However, Harry was happiest in the company of his family. He always found time to take his daughters on bike rides, camping on Uncle John Koran's property, helped with homework assignments, swimming and worked hard to save money so he could take his family on summer vacations to California, Florida (Disney) on Amtrak, Hawaii, The World's Fair in Tennessee, and spent many family summer vacations on Plum Lake in Northern Wisconsin. Harry also proudly helped his daughters purchase their first cars and shared with them his love of animals.

In addition to his loving wife Janet, Harry is survived by his daughters, Jody (Richard) Wagner; Holly (Lee) Maurer; his grandson, Jerry Maurer; and his brother, Paul (Karen) Burlingame.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Ruth Burlingame; sister, Lorraine Burlingame Kaufman; his brother-in-law Daniel Kaufman; his niece Amy Ruth Burlingame and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arthur and Helen Ludvigsen, of which he was very fond.

A private service with military honors took place in the funeral home. His interment followed in Graceland Cemetery.
