Racine – Helen Ann Checki, 82, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2013. Helen was born in Racine on September 28, 1930, daughter of the late John and Anna (nee: Adzima) Sinsky. She was a graduate of St. Catherine’s High School and was a lifetime Racine area resident. On June 24, 1961 she was married in Holy Trinity Catholic Church to James Vincent Checki.
A woman of many talents, Helen enjoyed sewing and spending time in her garden. She liked to play board games and cards (especially Canasta), and appreciated sharing a meal with her family and friends. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending their various events. Helen was a faithful member of St. Lucy Catholic Church.
Helen is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, James; and their children, John (Susan) Checki of League City, Texas, and Gena Checki of Mount Pleasant; grandchildren, Andrew and Rachel; brothers-in-law, George Checki of Mount Pleasant, Ronald (Christine) Checki of Warren, Michigan; and sisters-in-law, Gloria Sinsky of Racine and Marilyn Checki of Franksville. She was preceded in death by her brother, Frank Sinsky; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Donald and Margaret McNeese, Millie Checki, and Edward Checki.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 19, 2013 at 11 am in St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Avenue, with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Entombment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation will be in the church on Friday from 10-11 am. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested donations to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation or the The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
