Racine – Homer J. Savard, age 85, passed away at his home on Friday afternoon, May 20, 2016.

Homer was born in Calumet, MI on December 16, 1930 to the late Homer and Nota (nee: Allaria) Savard. He lived in Calumet & Laurium, Michigan until moving to Southeastern Wisconsin in 1957. Homer faithfully served our country with the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951-53.

On September 20, 1969 in St. Mary's Catholic Church, he was united in marriage with Judith Ann (nee: Nussbaum). Homer began his career with Louis Allis for 15 years before working for Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center, retiring as Director of Engineering after 23 years of service.

Homer was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church and an amateur radio operator. He enjoyed golfing and bowling. Above all, he loved and cherished being together with his entire family.

Surviving are his wife, Judy; children, Robert (Lois) Savard, Carol (Edward) Ziesemer and Homer (Julie) Savard; grandchildren, Joe (Emily) Savard, Benjamin (Julia) Savard, Alexander Savard, Christina (Mark) Shen, Annie (Nikki) Klitzke; and Amy Ziesemer; great-grandchildren, John Gabriel, Evagrace, Amelia, Elizabeth, Marie, Joshua, Lucy, Maxwell and Delia; brothers-in-law, William (Julie) and Mark (Debbie) Nussbaum; sisters-in-law, Janice Gillaurakis and Kay Nussbaum; nieces, nephews, other dear relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Homer was preceded in death by his first wife, Willy (nee: Daems) Savard; and brothers-in-law, Roger Nussbaum and Michael Gillaurakis.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring Street, with Rev. William J. Dietzler and Rev. Michael Wolfe officiating. Military honors will follow. Visitation will be in the church on Tuesday from 9:00 – 11:00 am. Private interment will take place at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Memorials to Health Care Network or to the American Diabetes Association have been suggested.
