James Charles Benedict, age 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Aurora Medical Center in Burlington, following a brave one-year battle with glioblastoma – brain cancer.

Jim was born in Racine, Wisconsin on August 15, 1947, to the late Charles Benedict and Irene (nee: Dvorak) Benedict. He was a graduate of St. Catherine's High School "Class of 1966" where he was a standout athlete. He went on to earn his degree from Dominican College.

His professional career spanned many years. He retired in 2010 from American Family Insurance after spending more than 20 years as an insurance agent in Racine. Since retiring, he spent half of his time here in Wisconsin at his home on Bohner's Lake in Burlington, and the other half at his Fountain Hills, Arizona home.

Jim was an avid golfer. He lived on a golf course in Arizona where he enjoyed walking while searching for and collecting golf balls in his spare time. He also loved to work with his hands building many rec rooms and doing numerous remodeling projects over the years. Above all he loved spending time with his family.

Surviving are his children, Cory (Lynda) Joubert of Mount Pleasant, WI; Jaime (Zeek) Minic of Phoenix, AZ; & Jimmi (Jessica) Benedict of Mequon, WI; grandchildren, Kendra (fiancé, James Lee) & Carli Joubert; Adriana, Gianna & Luca Minic; Cadence & Jeremiah Benedict; great-granddaughter, Georgia Lee; brother, Charles (Diane) Benedict; special nieces, Teri (Bill) Bohn & Jodi (Blair) McNeil; loving friend, Kit Kilian; other relatives & friends – too numerous to mention all by name.

Private family services will be held, with entombment, at Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
