James Earl Edwards, age 79, received the promise of eternal life, surrounded by the love of his family, on Wednesday, July 8th, 2026, at Aurora St Luke's Medical Center- Milwaukee, WI., following a courageous battle with multifactorial health difficulties. James was born the third of eight children, on April 7, 1947, in New Albany, MS.  to Earl O'Neal and Willie Lee (nee: Johnson) Edwards. He was a 1966 graduate of Washington Park High School and went on to attend Gateway Technical College, where he received a Journeyman's Card in Mechanics. James served our country from 1967 to 1969 in the Army stationed in Germany. He returned home to marry his wife Debra Lee Brommer on September 5 ^th , 1970. He accepted Christ in his life at an early age and was a faithful member of Little Macedonia Church of God in Christ as a youth.

He especially loved spending time with his loving wife Debra, son Dr. Jamie (Lizy) Edwards and grandsons Mason and Ethan Edwards. His most favorite time was spent with both of his grandchildren. He enjoyed bowling and riding his motorcycle with his son, brothers, Bobby and Roy Edwards, and other motorcycle organizations, family and friends. James loved laughing and sharing conversations at family gatherings and making the best pizza ever. No matter the situation or time of day, he was always there for those he loved. He encouraged loving one another and always wanting the best for everyone.

His father, Earl O'Neil Edwards, mother, Willie Lee Edwards, grandparents: Hermie Francis & Robert Johnson, Maggie & Leroy Edwards, his sister Mary Jane Edwards, brothers, Bobby Neil and Roy Lee Edwards, twin grandnephews: Eli & Avery Edwards, his father and mother-in-law, Carl and Cora Brommer, and brother and sister-in-law, Joel Brommer and Shiela Williams, all precede him in death .

To cherish his memory James leaves his wife Debra Lee Edwards, his son, Dr. Jamie O'Brian Edwards (Elizabeth Ann), grandsons: Mason Willie and Ethan O'Brian Edwards, of Wisconsin, Sisters, Ernestine Banks, Charmane March of Huntsville, AL, Lolisa Marie Young (Paul), of Racine, WI., and Regina Rangi (Tarlochan) of Rancho Cucamonga, CA.,

James will be deeply missed by his nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews: Austin Williams, Andrew Brommer, Tina Brommer, Mathew Brommer,  April Smith (Joe), Corey Ramsey, Olympia Jackson (Greg), Danae Holling, Eric Edwards, Alicia Edwards, Jasmone Williams, Travis Edwards, Joshua Edwards, Charity Ivy, Miranda Osborne, Brittany Gunn, Ashley Young, Steven March, Paul Young Jr., Eboni Finley, Kassandra Folstad, Leland March, Stacii James, Tyra Ramsey, Umar Williams, Johnathan Osborne Jr,  Asiah Williams, Jada Edwards, Jacob Edwards (Lyna), Brooke McCaskill, Avaneet Rangi, Carly Svoren (Joseph), Aaliyah Mayfield, Amayah Mayfield, Brady Edwards, Justin Osborne, Karter Tatum, Kayson Tatum, Trevor Edwards, Gavin Osborne, Nathan Osborne, Isabella Edwards, Adrian Edwards, Nayeli Alvarez, Melanie Alvarez and Promise Young, in-laws: Julie Edwards, Amy Edwards, and Terri Brommer. Many more extended family members, nieces, nephews and friends, too numerous to mention.

Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory on Saturday, JULY 25, 2026 , for a visitation from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm.  A service celebrating Jim's life and Homegoing will be at 4:00 pm with Pastor Willie Scott officiating.  Miliary Honors will follow.  A private interment will take place at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove.
