James G. Hurley, 88, went Home to his Lord and Savior, on Wednesday, January 3, 2018. James passed away, peacefully, surrounded by his loving family during his final days. He was born in Racine on November 11, 1929 the son of the late James E. and Frieda (nee: Hall) Hurley.

On December 23, 1950, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, the former Gladys M. Weaver. Together, they celebrated over 63 years of marriage. She preceded him in death on April 1, 2014. James proudly served his country with the U.S. Army, and his community as a police officer for the City of Racine, for over 27 years. He was a member of Grace Church, for over 60 years.  For many years, James enjoyed driving the church bus on various church outings. He enjoyed watching many sporting events, especially the Green Bay Packers and the Wisconsin Badgers. James loved his two faithful companions, Teddy and Bootie. He enjoyed collecting coins, traveling, and spending time with his family. James especially enjoyed traveling to a Pennsylvania with family and friends. In his younger years he rarely missed watching his sons sporting events. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and a loyal friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Surviving are his two sons, Steven (Machele) Hurley, of Bristol, WI, Scott (Jeni) Hurley, of Kenosha; eight grandchildren, Ashley (Michelle), Meghan (Brad), Abbi (Justin), Aaron, Austin (Sam) Mallory, Tanner, and Paige; four great grandchildren, Max, Ava, Owen, and Lark; his sister-in-law, Carolyn Weaver, of Pennsylvania, James is also survived by his nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents and beloved wife, James was preceded in death by his son, James Jr., brothers-in-law, George Weaver Jr., and Donald Weaver.

The family would like to thank the Addison of Pleasant Prairie and Hospice Alliance for the loving care and support given to James and his family.

A private service, with full military and police honors, in the chapel of the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Union Grove, with Rev. Jeff Talbert officiating.
