Mt. Pleasant, WI- James E. (Jim) Mohrhauser passed peacefully at his home on August 9, 2012 at the age of 90.
He was born July 5, 1922 in Madison, WI to Joseph and Anna (nee Schmeltzer) Mohrhauser. On October 17, 1944 he was married to his bride of 63 years Jean (nee Ridgway) at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Chicago IL.
Jim and Jean moved to Racine in February of 1952 where he began a long career at Racine Hydraulics before leaving in 1967 to co-found Versa Technologies Inc. with his good friend and colleague Sheldon B. Lubar of Milwaukee. VersaTek became nationally known for its remarkable performance on behalf of shareholders and employees until his retirement in late 1997.
Jim passed with his son Tom, his wife Sherry their children, grandchildren, friends, colleagues and most indispensable family friend, Steve Wanberg surrounding him during his last few days.
Family and friends are invited to meet at St. Lucy Catholic Church (3101 Drexel Ave.) a week from tomorrow, on Monday, August 20, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. for the celebration of Jim's life and memorial Mass with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. There will be a visitation in the church on that Monday from 4:30 p.m. until the time of the Mass. A private interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in Jim and Jean's name to the Racine Health Care Network, Inc. (904 State Street. Racine, WI 53404)
The family wishes to acknowledge The Wheaton Cardiovascular Institute teams as well as the Wheaton Hospice associates who marked Jim's final days with such exceptional care.
