STURTEVANT – James A. Nelson, Sr., 76, passed away at his residence on Friday, October 2, 2015.

Jim was born in Menominee, MI on February 20, 1939 to the late Bert and Elizabeth (nee: Gilbert) Nelson.    On June 23, 1959, he married Mary Chevalier.  She preceded him in death on June 24, 2008.   On July 21, 2012, he married Cynthia Zuba.

Jim proudly worked for American Motors and Chrysler for 38 years; retiring as an inspector.

He was a passionate and fervent Packers fan who wore his emotions on his sleeve on game days.  He was also an avid outdoorsman that loved to hunt, fish and tinker in the yard and garage.  Jim was happiest, however, when he was in the company of his family.

In addition to his wife Cynthia, he is survived by his children, James Nelson, Jr. of Kenosha, Lou (Randal) Haske of Burlington, Rick (Theresa) Nelson of Mount Pleasant, Dianne (Steven) Strand of Iron Mountain, MI, Kenny (Shannon) Nelson of Caledonia; his grandchildren, Jennette, Matthew, Ashley, Rachel, Samuel, Jessica, Zachary, Jericka, Alexandra, Jacob, Angelina, William, Sophia, Elisa, Stephanie and Kassie; his great grandchildren, Carter, Parker, Ayden, Giselle, Rieley, Hayli and Natalee; his brother, Thomas (Rose) Nelson of Menominee; step-father, Rudy Burie both of Menominee, MI; brothers-in-law, Mick Chevalier of Killeen, TX, Jim (Lynne) Chevalier of Boiling Springs, PA; as well as many dear nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  In addition to his parents and first wife, Jim was preceded in death by his infant sons, Robert and Patrick; his grandson, Joshua Nelson and brother, William Nelson.

Family and friends are invited to meet at the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home & Crematory on Saturday, October 10, 2015 for a visitation to meet with his family from 4:30-5:30 p.m.  A short service paying tribute to Jim's life will follow at 5:30 p.m.
