
James A. Townsend (Tiny T) was called home by his loving savior on Thursday, April 30, 2015. James was born June 14, 1949 to Ruthie Mae Washington & James C. Townsend in Meridian Mississippi.
He received his formal education in the Enterprise Mississippi public school system and Racine school system.
In Mississippi his attended different churches however, his home church was Friendship United Methodist Church in Enterprise Mississippi.
When the family moved to Racine in 1960 he first attended Faith Church of God and a few years ago he became a member of New Omega Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Fred L. Richmond Sr. of Racine, WI.
James was employed at the JI Case Company in Racine before retiring in 1978. James had a passion for beautiful luxury vehicles and owned many throughout his lifetime. He also had a great passion for photography. He loved music including gospel and rhythm and blues and he enjoyed grilling, gardening, cooking soul food, growing vegetables.
He leaves to cherish his memories his son James Lee (Sundra) Harris of Peoria, IL, his daughter April Channel (Corey) Kyle of Racine, WI, his 7 grandchildren; Tavis J. Franklin Jr., Jade E. Harris, Jalyn Harris, Tyus M. Scaife-Harris, Jaymie R.Scaife-Harris, Autumn C. Kyle, and Jae S. Harris, his great grandchild; Zemira Ali Pena, his Stepchildren from a previous marriage, his sisters & brothers Ruby Oliver of Milwaukee, WI, Eloise (Charlie) Johnson of Racine, WI, Robert H. Townsend of Racine, WI, Rose (Jesse) Foster of Racine, WI, Shelley H. (Karen) Townsend of Aurora Colorado, James R. (Betty) Townsend of Racine, WI, Ted (Jessica)Williams of Racine, WI and Patricia and Tavares Davis also of Racine, WI. his Aunts Kizzie Bester, Louise Evans both of Racine, WI, Ora Washington of Laurel, Missississppi, Ruth Hazel Barker of Madison, WI, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
James was preceded in death by parents; James C. Townsend and Mother Ruthie Mae Washington including his paternal grandparents Fred and Roberta Jordan-Townsend and Elmer and Roberta Buckley-Washington.
James played a speciaal role and was a part of sso many lives, he will be deeply missed. Each and every one of us was special in his life, especially his children, James aand April, sister, Rosie, aunt, Kizzie Bester, cousin, John (Sugar Bear) Washington, step-daughter, Lisa, and step-grandson, Taurean Pierce.
His Homegoing Service will be on Saturday, May 9th, at 9:30 a.m. in the New Omega Baptist Church, 5731 Northwestern Ave., with Rev. Fred L. Richmond Sr. officiating. Visitation will be in the church on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in
Graceland Cemetery.
