Mount Pleasant – Jan F. Kratochvil, 63, died February 23, 2018, at Froedtert Hospital, Wauwatosa. He was born in Racine on January 27, 1955, the son of the late William J. and Lucille V. Kratochvil.

Jan earned the Eagle Scout award with the Boy Scouts of America in 1973, graduated from Horlick High School, and served in the U.S. military. He was an avid Milwaukee Brewers fan and supporter of the Racine Zoological Gardens.

Jan was the only child and the faithful guardian of his elderly mother, Lucille, who died four days after Jan at age 98. Known survivors are cousins, Joan Scully (Racine), Diane McCue (Friendship, WI), Linda (Dennis) Eaton (Racine), Dennis (Susan) Malone (Chicago), and numerous second cousins.

A memorial celebration of Jan's and Lucille's lives will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018, 12:00pm, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road. Visitation will take place from 10:30 until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Racine Zoological Society, 2131 N. Main Street, Racine, WI 53402.
