Racine – Janet M. Sullivan, 92, received the promise of eternal life on Monday, April 13, 2015. She was born in Milwaukee on October 22, 1922, daughter of the late Francis and Lorraine (nee: Kissinger) Darnieder.
Janet was united in marriage to the love of her life, Robert D. Sullivan, on June 19, 1948, at St. Robert’s church in Shorewood. Robert preceded her in death on April 14, 1995.
After retirement, Janet lived in Colorado for 21 years and moved back to Racine in 2009. She was a faithful member of St. Lucy’s Catholic Church. Janet loved socializing with others and always strived to be a great friend. She enjoyed crocheting and was a phenomenal cook. Janet was also a member of The Red Hat Society. She loved her family tremendously and will be dearly missed. A friend to all who met her, Janet was always true to the virtue of kindness.
Janet leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Barbara (Charles) Albee of Racine, David (Rebekah) Sullivan of Erie, CO, Marygail “DD” Sullivan of Portland, OR, Kerry Sullivan of Longmont, CO, Michael Sullivan of Racine; grandchildren, Molly (Santino) Van Der Wielen, Sara Albee, Kory (Chris) Dennis, Sean Sullivan, Dan Minh Tran, James Enos, Mia Enos, Lori Loukakis, Heidi Lautenschlager, Katie Sullivan, Brian Tomes, Christopher Tomes, Eric (Shannon) Sullivan; great-grandchildren, Jacob, McKenna, Logan, Carter, Kyla, Charlotte, Colton, Christopher Jr.; sister-in-law, Mary Darnieder; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends too numerous to mention.
In addition to her parents and husband, Janet is preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Judy Sullivan; brothers, Donald Darnieder, Jack (Rosie) Darnieder; sister, Betty (John) Boyle; in-laws, Sylvia and Jere Sullivan; Parents Francis and Lorraine Darnieder and sister-in-law, Patricia (Louis) Frey.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated for Janet on Saturday, April 18, 2015, 11:00am, at St. Lucy’s Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Avenue, with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00am until the time of the service. Interment will take place in the future at Mountain View Cemetery in Erie, CO.
The family would like to say a very special “Thank You” to the staff of Home Harbor for their love, care and friendship of Mom during her years there. And to Compassionate Care Hospice, also a very special “Thank You” from the family for the loving care that they gave to Janet during her final months.
