Janice Arlene Dyess, 77, passed away at Oak Ridge Care Center in Union Grove on Thursday, September 24, 2015. She was born in Racine on May 5, 1938, the daughter of the late Theodore and Lydia (nee: Meisner) Benner. Janice graduated from Park High School, and lived in Racine for most of her life. Janice spent 23 years as an Administration Assistant with the Racine County Human Services Department, retiring in 1999.

Janice enjoyed reading, listening to music, watching Jeopardy (her favorite TV show), completing crossword puzzles, and most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Green Bay Packers.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Gary (Elaine) Jones, Grant (Karolyn) Dyess, April (Francisco) Centeno, and Christopher (Jessica) Dyess; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and anxiously awaiting the 19th! She is further survived by her brother Keith Benner; sisters-in-law Marsha Benner and Judy Benner; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry Jones, her former husband Edward Lee Dyess; brothers Edward Benner, Lloyd Benner, and Charles Benner; and her special Aunt Dorothy Brych.

Services will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Willie Scott officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation in the funeral home will begin at 10 a.m.

The members of Janice’s family would like to thank all of the staff at Oak Ridge Care Center for their professional dedication and loving care provided to our mother.

I am so sorry that I heard my Aunt Janice passed away. I loved her so much. Her kids were and are my favorite cousins. We grew up together.I remember her, my Mom, and my Grandma hanging out in Grandma’s kitchen, Yapping it up. I really miss those times. I’ll love you FOREVER, Janice! Rest In Peace, my great Aunt, and friend!
