It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Janice S. Kropp, age 68, passed away at Froedtert South – Pleasant Prairie Hospital on Monday, July 1, 2024 after fighting several complications during her aggressive cancer treatment.

Janice (Jancy) was born in Racine on July 30, 1955 to the late Carl and Evelyn (nee: Prosniak) McGilsky. She graduated from St. Catherine's High School. Jancy took great pride in her work ethic, especially her ability to work two full-time jobs for over 20 years before her retirement.  She leaves behind a legacy of strength lead by a tenacious drive to do whatever it took to provide for her family and friends. Her love for others spread from family to friends, to animals, and brought a fulfilling sense of happiness and joy. Jancy took on crafting, painting, landscaping her backyard, working on her house, and traveling the US /Europe with her kids. Jancy was able to reach 49 of 50 states, while collecting a shot glass from each visited. One of Jancy's bucket list items was to see a moose in the wild, which took 2 years of chasing after them, before finding 5 in Alaska in October of 2023. Jancy enjoyed sports and was the loudest on the bleachers, often whistling and yelling when her kids or local teams were playing. Jancy was a diehard Packers fan and enjoyed watching her team. During retirement, Jancy picked up hockey quickly, enjoyed rooting for the MN Wild and her favorite player, Kirill Kaprizov. Despite it taking two years to get her to go to a MN Wild game in person, she said watching the Wild live was even better than watching football at Lambeau. Her bobblehead shrine in her office and building Legos were newfound hobbies.

Jancy is survived by her children, Katie Kropp and Benjamin Kropp; nephew and godson, Charles Gene Stephan; nephew, Nicholas Lowery; cousins, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Carla Lowery.

Jancy was a sweet and amazing woman that touched those fortunate enough to be part of her world. She was a beloved mother, sister and friend.

Cremation has taken place in accordance with Jancy's last wishes. Some of her remains will be spread at what would have been her 50th state, Hawaii and various places in the world so she may continue her travels with her family while looking down from above.

May Jancy's spirit fill the hearts of those she touched, and may her memory be a source of comfort during this difficult time.

Service Details

We invite friends and family to join us with a celebration of her life. The celebration will take place at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home, 4600 County Line Road, Mt. Pleasant 53403 on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 9:30am with a time of remembrance scheduled at 11:30am.
