MOUNT PLEASANT – Mrs. Janis A. DeKeuster, 85, passed away at St. Monica's Senior Home on Tuesday, June 21, 2016.

She was born in Racine on January 6, 1931, the daughter of the late Michael and Susan (nee: Holicka) Mikush.   Jan graduated from Washington Park High School in 1948.   On August 20, 1955, she married Bernard "Dede" DeKeuster at Pentecost Lutheran Church.  He preceded her in death in 1989.

Jan was a longtime member of Pentecost Lutheran Church where she participated in many church functions over the years; including, Ruth Circle.   She was a charter member of the Washington Park Thursday Golferettes.  Jan also enjoyed traveling extensively in earlier years with her mother, Susan.

Jan is survived by her sister-in-law, Audrey DeKeuster of Racine as well as many loving nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces whom they affectionately called, Aunt Janis.  She was also preceded in death by her brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jack DeKeuster, Eunice (Bud) Shawhan and Elaine "Tootie" (Bob) Schmidt.

Family and friends are invited to meet at Pentecost Lutheran Church (2213 Coolidge Ave) on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 for a visitation from 10-11 a.m.  A funeral service celebrating her life will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Luke Jacob officiating.  She will be interred next to her husband at West Lawn Memorial Park.   In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to Pentecost Lutheran Church.
