Jasper Roy Swift, 67, was called Home by his Heavenly Father, on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, with his family by his side.

Jasper was born on February 16, 1956 in Memphis, Tennessee. He was the second twin son of the late Frank Roland and Mary Elizabeth (Wilkerson) Swift. He was the second born twin of six children. He was raised in Zion, Illinois. When he became an adult, he relocated to Racine, Wisconsin.

Jasper attended Zion Benton Township High School in Zion, Illinois. Jasper proudly served his country with the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1977. He was stationed in Munich, Germany and loved it there! In fact, he even learned to speak the language! After returning from the military, Jasper attended College of Lake County in Grayslake, Illinois, where he studied Criminal Justice and Psychology. He also attended Gateway Technical College in Kenosha, Wisconsin where he studied Computer Technology.

Jasper started working at an early age and had a great work ethic. He spent over 30 years as an accomplished automotive detailer, working for multiple dealerships throughout his career.

Jasper loved nice cars and was a very sharp dresser. His wardrobe included a huge collection of  hats and shoes. He also loved cooking and preparing special cuisine dishes. Watching all types of sporting events on T.V. was his favorite pastime.

Jasper had a charismatic personality and a unique sense of humor that was infectious! When he walked into a room, he would immediately captivate the audience! Some of his most famous lines were: "chello-wello", "baa-bey", "talk to me quick!" When you heard him say those words, you couldn't help but crack up laughing! lol

Jasper enjoyed singing and dancing. In fact, he was in a talent show in junior high and high school. A few members of the group were Billy McKinney, Brian Colbert, Yvonne Staples and Calvin Jordan. Jasper was the lead dancer. They portrayed The Temptations. At times, Jasper pretended to be James Brown and would break out into the splits and the camel walk, which were the latest dances back in the day.

As a child, Jasper attended Mount Zion Baptist Church in Zion, IL. Years later, Jasper, along with his twin sister, Glenda, sister Porsha, and twin brothers Donnie and Ronnie, attended Faith Tabernacle Church of God in Christ in Zion, Illinois. Jasper accepted Christ before he transitioned to be with the Lord.

Jasper's greatest love was his family. He loved his two daughters and grandchildren dearly.

Jasper leaves to cherish his precious loving memory: two daughters, Angela Reed of Zion, Illinois and Lenaya Smith of Kentwood, Michigan. Six grandchildren, Landon Vaughn, Austin Vaughn, twins Mason and Princeton Vaughn, Jada Washington, and Jasmyn Washington. One brother, Donnie (Donna) Swift of Racine, Wisconsin, twin sister, Glenda Duncan of Kenosha, Wisconsin, sister Porsha (David) Theus of LaVergne, Tennessee and sister, Connie Turner of Nashville, Tennessee. Two aunts, Ivy Nell Cunnington of Arlington, Tennessee, Silva (Isadore) Haywood of Oak Park, Michigan and one uncle, Charles (Vernell) Wilkerson of Racine, Wisconsin. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. His very close longtime friends were Jackie Stanley, Brian Colbert and James Green.

Jasper was preceded in death by his Father, Frank Roland Swift and Mother, Mary Elizabeth Swift; Grandfather, Roland Swift; Grandmother, Laura Swift; Grandfather, Willis Wilkerson and Grandmother, Lucy Mae Wilkerson. Five deceased uncles: John Ed (Georgia Ruth) Swift; Paul Dean (Laura) Wilkerson; Willis (Lackey) Wilkerson, Jr.; Lloyd Wilkerson and Arthur Cunningham. Two deceased aunts: Augusta (Curtis) McNeil and Clarice Whitmore. One deceased brother, Ronnie ("Rollo") Swift. One deceased Brother-In-Law, Michael ("Duck") Turner. One deceased niece, September Swift and five deceased cousins: Robert (Hook) Jurnett-McNeil; Clinton Ray McNeil; Steven McNeil; Timothy Hiler-Swift and Porscha LaKeyle Thomas.

Service Details

His Homegoing Service will be held at New Way Faith Tabernacle Church of God in Christ, 2801 W. 30 ^th St. Zion, IL, on Monday , April 3 ^rd , at 12:00 O'clock Noon, with Pastor

Dr. Robert L. Richards officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday , April 2 ^nd , from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place on Tuesday, April 4 ^th , at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 10:00 a.m.
