Somers – Jean Violet (nee: Gering) Delcore, age 91, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, October 17, 2014.
Jean was born in Lena, Wisconsin on October 29, 1922 to the late George and Christine (nee: Urbanek) Gering. She graduated from Lena High School. Jean and her husband, Francis "Whitey" Delcore, lived in Racine until retiring to the north-woods in Oconto County. Sadly, Francis "Whitey" passed away on October 23, 1987. Jean continued to remain in Oconto County for approximately 15 years before moving back to the Racine area to be near family.
Among her interests, Jean enjoyed knitting blankets & slippers; cooking (Jean's family loved her fried chicken); was a Green Bay Packer season ticket holder at Lambeau Field; and was known to savor an ice cold beer or two. Above all, Jean loved and cherished being in the surroundings of her entire family.
Surviving are her loving son, Terry Delcore; son-in-law, Robert L. Morrison; adored grandchildren, Robert S. "Bobby" Morrison, Melanie Delcore and Austin Delcore; brother, George (Eileen) Gering, Jr.; sister, Joyce Fenske; sister-in-law, June Gering; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Jean was preceded in death by her precious daughters, Christine Morrison and Judy Delcore; brother, Melvin Gering; sisters, Helen (Francis) Lyons and Phyllis (Emil) Urbanek; and brother-in-law, Alfred Fenske.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at 7:00 pm in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Thursday from 5-7 pm. Interment will be in the Oconto Catholic Cemetery (Oconto County) on Friday at 1 pm. In honor of the wonderful care and compassionate support given by Hospice Alliance – especially Nancy and Julie, memorials to Hospice Alliance, Inc. has been suggested by Jean's family.
