Jean Laverne Fischer (Miller) was born March 19 ^th , 1933 to Louise and Frank Miller of Kenosha, WI.   Jean was a devout Catholic who belonged to St. Richard's parish (formerly Holy Name) her entire life. Her faith was evident to all who knew her, and on July 6 ^th , 2017 after 84 years on His earth, God called her home.

She grew up on her parent's crop farm, where she participated daily in the planting and harvesting of those crops, especially during the strawberry season. Upon graduation from St. Catherine's High School she worked briefly at Webster Electric, followed by two years in the office at Massey Harris.

During that time she met her husband, Harry, at a dance held at the Eagle's hotel. They married in 1953, raised seven children at the modest home they built on a corner piece of the family farm, and were together for 59 years until Harry passed away in 2013.

Nothing in the world mattered more to Jean than her husband, their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She relished holding the babies, and had as much fun interacting with the toddlers as they did.

Jean delighted in the annual trips with her husband, children, and combinations of family generations, to a special place on a lake in northern Wisconsin.  Over the course of many years, her and Harry traveled to Florida for monthly intervals as a reprieve to the Wisconsin winters, where they made more friends.

In addition to family, she enjoyed planting several mini-gardens of vegetables and flowers at her home, frequently commenting how she was a farmer's daughter who just had to get her hands in the soil. She enjoyed baking for others and was known for her delicious fruit pies. She liked to read and was also an avid card-player, who played Sheepshead with groups of friends on a regular basis.

Jean is survived by her sons Michael Fischer, Sr. of Kenosha, WI,   Harry (Karen) Fischer, Jr. of Racine, WI, and daughters Julie (David) Wills of Naperville, IL, Ann (Dan) Lawson of West End, NC, Denise (Jon) Lescak of Danville, IL, Peggy Bradley of Franklin, WI and Jane (Paul) Shebeneck of Racine, WI, along with eleven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by two brothers, three sisters, as well as numerous step-children and step-grandchildren.

Visitation with the family will be held at St. Richard's parish on Grand Avenue in Racine, Wednesday, July 12 ^th from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. The family will have a private ceremony at a later time.

As much as Jean loved flowers, any donation to her life-long parish of St. Richard's would have been her preference.
