Jerry L. Flannery, 75, passed away at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee on June 10th, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born and raised in Kenosha, WI, to Clifford B. Flannery and Mary Jane Flannery (Colonna). Jerry graduated from Tremper High School in 1967 and enlisted with the US Army during the Vietnam War 1968-1971. His rank at the end of his tour was SP5. Jerry joined Local 669 Sprinkler fitter union in 1977 and successfully completed a 5-yr journeyman apprenticeship. Jerry completed fire sprinkler design certification from the University of Texas and went on to receive both his State of WI and IL Contractors license in Fire Sprinkler. Survived by his wife of 40 years, Carolyn J Flannery (McLeod); children, Michael Flannery, Lisa Booth (John Booth), Shawn Flannery, Bobbie Pecha, and Tammy Schnaare (Jason Schnaare); ten grandchildren and soon to be three great-grandchildren; brother to eight siblings and beloved nephew to Joan (Annie) Koster. In later years Jerry relocated to Wheatland, WI with his wife, Carolyn, where together they built their forever home. Jerry wore many hats with grace and determination. He was a devoted father, loving and proud grandfather, and faithful husband. His work ethic was legendary, a testament to his relentless pursuit of excellence. Through hard work, Jerry and his wife Carolyn built a successful disabled veteran owned business, Flannery Fire Protection, that not only provided for his family up until retirement but enriched the lives of those he employed. Beyond his professional achievements, Jerry found solace and joy in the simple pleasures: gardening in his greenhouse from seedlings, wildlife, and putzing around on household chores. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and making homemade sausages, and he enjoyed teaching these hobbies to both his kids and grandkids. Yet, perhaps most importantly, he was a devoted husband who cherished his wife through thick and thin, a true testament to the strength of his character and depth of his heart. Family always came first and foremost to Jerry. His knowledge was vast and his opinions strong – you could always count on him for a lively debate or sage advice, whether you wanted it or not. For those that personally knew Jerry, knew that he could be a tad bit onery from time to time, but under that tough exterior was a kind man who was always willing to help anyone in need. He was there to lend a hand, listen, or share his wisdom. As we bid farewell to our friend, father, husband, brother, and grandpa, let's remember not only his accomplishments, but also the lessons he imparted. May his memories live on in each of us that knew him. Jerry was preceded in death by parents, Clifford and Mary Jane Flannery; son, Jeffrey Flannery; brothers, Barry and Clarence Flannery; stepson, Fred C. Blake, and son-in-law, Kelly Pecha.

Service Details

His funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, June 22, 2024. at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial, with full military honors, will take place in the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Monday, June 24th, at 9:00 a.m. All are welcome.
